The steps of rhinoplasty
The medical & aesthetic consultation
In the beginning there are the questions: Do I need a rhinoplasty? Will an aesthetic or functional nose surgery will beneficial for me? In order to answer these questions, a comprehensive consultation will be necessary.
Photography of the nose
A standardized and uniform color photograph, which is taken before and after the surgery, is as important for the nose surgeon as radiographs for the orthopedist or electrocardiograms for the cardiologist.
Prior to the nose surgery
You should be prepared prior to any surgery, in order to make sure that your intervention proceeds as smooth as possible. Before you undergo a rhinoplasty, take time to prepare yourself for the surgery and the recovery time afterwards.
Day of Surgery
Two noses are never the same. The absolute prerequisite for obtaining excellent achievements is the ability to analyze every patient’s nose as precisely as possible.
After the nose surgery
You can usually get out of bed with the support of a nurse only a few hours after the surgery. The nose will have made significant progress in the 10 days after the surgery.

One of the following reasons can make you an appropriate candidate for a rhinoplasty:
Breathing through the nose through one or both nostrils is affected and medical treatment using nasal spray does not give satisfactory or permanent relief.
An accident or a surgery changed the form of your nose cosmetically and/or functionally inconveniently.
You have been discontent with the appearance of your nose for a longer period of time.
A harelip and cleft palate has been corrected at an earlier age. Now you want the remaining malposition of the nose to be adjusted.
Anatomy
Medical foundation
The nose consists of a soft tissue envelope, bony and cartilaginous parts. The bony part is partially formed by the upper jaw (maxilla) and the nasal bone. The cartilaginous part is a bit more complex. The cartilaginous nasal septum is in the center of the nose.

During the preoperative examination the skin type can be evaluated by inspecting and scanning the skin. Extremely thick skin that has a lot of sebaceous glands and subcutaneous tissue sets boundaries for the surgeon regarding the smallest refinements of the postoperative form of the nose. >> learn more
